And the countdown to Paddy’s Day starts……..
Press release from The Ramshackle Army
Melbourne Celtic Punk band The Ramshackle Army is proud to announce that it will be embarking on its first American tour, playing the prestigious Celtic festival Shamrock Fest 2012 and joining Dropkick Murphys on their St Patricks Day Tour. For The Ramshackle Army, a band who began playing shows a short 18 months ago, this is the first significant step towards international recognition.
Dropkick Murphys are no stranger to the Australian punk scene regularly playing to huge sell out crowds countrywide. In October 2011, Dropkick Murphys toured with fellow US act Lucero, asking The Ramshackle Army to support on the tour’s final show in Melbourne, subsequently inviting them to embark on the North East Coast leg of the St Patrick’s Day Tour. The entire tour will be supported by Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls, and will culminate in two massive shows on St Patrick’s Day.
Shamrock Fest has fast become one of the largest Celtic music themed festivals in the US, taking place the week after St Patricks Day. Showcasing 50 acts across 10 stages, in front of 30,000 people the music plays out beside pub games, “best male/female legs in a kilt” contest and all things Celtic.
“We’re honoured and grateful for such an amazing opportunity,” says vocalist Gaz Byrne. “We understand what this could mean not only to our band, but also to other great Celtic and punk bands coming out of Australia.” “This is going to be one hell of a ride.”
