THE TOSSERS frontman has entered Million Yen studios in Chicago with Andy Gerber (Local H, Cheap Trick) to record his debut solo CD. A prolific writer, Duggins’ brand of transcendent Celtic folk is intoxicating, and his repertoire impressive. Members of The Tossers are said to be lending a hand. Expect a spring 05 release on THICK. Cheers to that!

12-28-04 Press Release
In anticipation of a new compilation of rare tracks and b-side single releases, The Singles Collection, Volume 2: 1998 - 2004, in stores Tuesday, March 8, Dropkick Murphys will be performing five shows over four days for their annual St. Patrick's Day event March 17th - 20th at the Avalon Ballroom in Boston. Tickets for this weeklong celebration went on sale December 7th; with all five shows selling out in just five days.
The second in a series of compilation albums from Dropkick Murphys, The Singles Collection 2 is a chronicle of the band's unique anthemic rock sound, mixing Celtic folk and aggressive street punk. Unlike traditional greatest hits albums The Singles Collection 2 is an extensive anthology of the band's more rare, hard to find songs from the many limited edition 7" singles, split EP's, tribute albums and compilations over the past 6 years, including tracks from the European only release of the single "Walk Away" and their most recent single release "Tessie".
From the guitar driven opening of "21 Guitar Salute" to the working class rock anthem "We Got The Power," The Singles Collection showcases some of the best non-album material the band has produced over the past six years, including cover songs from a variety of legendary bands the Murphys wanted to pay tribute to: Motorhead, The Misfits, Shane MacGowan's first band The Nipple Erectors and the first band to mix rock'n'roll with bagpipes, AC/DC.
Dropkick Murphys are currently in the studio working on their follow up to 2003's "Blackout" with their fifth, as yet untitled, album due for release in June 2005.

Shane MacGowans backing band, “The Popes” have released a new double CD – “Release The Beast”. Disk 1 is a new live recording and disk 2 is a re-release of “Holloway Boulevard”, the bands 2000 debut. The collection is available at mid-price
Shane MacGowan is quoted as saying, “'It's got a great live album (like The Who's Live @ Leeds) and an even better party album and it has a few of my best tracks on it... This album should be played loud, maggots. This is the best live white Irish Rock 'n' Roll record ever made... Why ... because I said so”

Warner Brother Press Release
Warner Strategic Marketing in association with The Pogues will be releasing re-mastered and expanded versions of all seven of The Pogues’ studio albums on November 15th: ‘Red Roses For Me’ (1984) , ‘Rum, Sodomy & The Lash’ (1985), ‘If I Should Fall From Grace With God’ (1988), ‘Peace And Love’ (1989), ‘Hell's Ditch’ (1990), ‘Waiting For Herb’ (1993) and ‘Pogue Mahone’ (1995).
The Pogues themselves have overseen this project, supervising the re-mastering process, the artwork and the booklets, commissioning special original sleeve notes from friends and fans Tom Waits, Steve Earle, Jim Jarmusch, Patrick McCabe, Matt Dillon, Bob Geldof and Stuart Pearce. The booklets will also contain some unseen photographs from the different phases of the band's career.
All CDs have been re-mastered from primary tape sources by Nick Robbins. In a distinguished career as an engineer, producer and re-mastering virtuoso, Nick has worked with The Pogues right from the beginning, when he engineered the ‘Red Roses For Me’ and ‘Rum, Sodomy & The Lash’ recordings. Robbins is at present hard at work mixing The Pogues forthcoming live album, recorded at the band's last London concerts at Brixton Academy in December 2001.
Each CD contains up to seven additional songs, comprising contemporaneous tracks which were not previously released on The Pogues albums. Many of these rare sides make their ever first appearance on CD, others for the first time in 20 years.
‘Red Roses For Me’ was The Pogues’ debut LP on signing to Stiff Records, the extra tracks rounding up six b-sides including ‘Repeal Of the Licensing Laws’ and ‘And The Band Played Waltzing Mathilda’ plus four typically fiery re-workings of traditional songs, such a revelation at the time to audiences reared on the London punk scene. The ‘Rum, Sodomy & The Lash’ CD contains the entire ‘Poguetry In Motion’ EP (1986) produced, as was the LP itself, by Elvis Costello. Both sides of the band’s first Top Ten hit ‘The Irish Rover’ (with The Dubliners, 1987) are added to ‘If I Should Fall From Grace With God’ (1988), the Platinum-selling album which contained the perennial Christmas classic ‘Fairytale Of New York’ (featuring the late Kirsty MacColl, 1987).
Fans will appreciate the appearance of hard-to-get titles like ‘Star Of The County Down’ (1989) and ‘The Limerick Rake’ (1989) on ‘Peace And Love’ (1989) and some great work from the prolific Joe Strummer-produced ‘Hell’s Ditch’ sessions (1990). A further collaboration with The Dubliners adds the single ‘Whiskey In The Jar’/‘Jack’s Heroes’, The Pogues’ own unofficial Irish World Cup song.
Joe Strummer briefly joined The Pogues the following year after Shane MacGowan’s departure in September 1991. By 1993’s ‘Waiting For Herb’, Spider Stacy had become the lead singer and ‘Tuesday Morning’ gave the band its first Top Twenty hit since ‘Fairytale Of New York’.
In total, 36 bonus tracks are spread over the seven sets. Only one of these is completely new - the new CD of the ‘Pogue Mahone’ album (1995) contains the previously-unreleased Stephen Hague single remix of ’Love You Till The End’. This is included as a tantalising foretaste of a projected box-set of further rarities, demos and unreleased material which will be released in 2005.
The Pogues will be touring the UK and Ireland in December. This is the classic 1987-1993 line-up of Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacy, Jem Finer, Philip Chevron, Terry Woods, Andrew Ranken, James Fearnley and Darryl Hunt which last toured the UK in 2001.
This time, fans will be delighted to know that the band will be joined on vocals by Cait O'Riordan! Cait was The Pogues’ original bass player from 1982-1986 and sang ‘I’m A Man You Don’t Meet Everyday’ on the ‘Rum, Sodomy & The Lash’ album. Recently, she has been playing and singing with Philip Chevron in a reformed line-up of The Radiators (Plan 9).

Flogging Molly’s new full-length album Within a Mile of Home is set for release on September 14th. This record features 15 songs that’ll have you tapping your feet and pumping your fist, as well as a couple of ballads to accompany that obligatory pint (or two or three) of Guiness. If you’ve recently seen Flogging Molly in concert you may have heard a new song or two. If it’s been a while since you’ve seen these guys, you’ll be happy to know they’re coming around again this fall.

Legendary Glasgow Celtic FC player Jimmy Johnstone has recently released a cover of "Dirty Old Town" which of course you know was made famous by The Pogues. Jimmy was a member of the 1967 European Cup winning Lisbon Lion's and was voted Celtic's greatest ever player. The single was released to raise money for research into motor neurone disease, a disease Jimmy was recently diagnosed with. Jim Kerr of Simple Minds ("Don't you forget about me", yeah right!!!!) produces. Shane McGowan contributes the b-side; " The Road to Paradise."

Just going to prove that the best punk music comes out during Republican administrations - when Reagan was president we had the Dead Kennedy and Minor Treat and under Clinton it was Limp Biscuit - Fat Wreck Chords are releasing “Rock Against Bush Vol. II” on August 10th. Flogging Molly will lend them the track, "Drunken Lullabies", while the Dropkick Murphys will include the rare track "We Got The Power".
It also looks like Flogging Molly will be playing some shows in September and October under the “Rock Against Bush” banner http://www.punkvoter.com/shows/shows.php

Terry Woods and Philip Chevron of the Pogues along with Paul Harrigan from The Woods Band have put together a new project "Chevron, Harrigan and Woods" (shades of ELP in the name eh?) I don’t know if this means the end of The Woods Band, I hope not though their web page has been down for a while so I suspect so.
CHW will be touring Germany with Jamie Clark’s Perfect. Both bands will be doing separate sets then playing together for the finale – expect a few Pogues songs. (Didn’t Jamie replace Phil in the Pogues?)
The dates are -
07/29 The Neue Welt Club - Ingolstadt, Germany

07/31 Bardentreffen Open-Air - Nürnberg, Germany
